Sun Damage Test

Untitled document
The Sun Damage Test from USP Solutions simulates the sun's damaging impact on the skin to give your consumers a moment of truth by discovering how your SPF product protects skin against harmful UV rays.

This dramatic test can be used alone to make your consumers aware of the necessity to protect their skin from harmful UV rays by using your UV protection products. Further, it can be used along with your SPF product to prove your product's effectiveness against sun damage.

Depending on your preferences, the Sun Damage Test can be tailored to show a range from minimal to severe wrinkles, dark spots or tanning.

The Sun Damage Test can also be used as an educational tool to inform your consumers that UVA rays can cause skin aging, dark spots and skin cancer and UVB rays can cause sun burn and skin cancer. See examples here.

How It Works:
  • Expose whole face to daylight or UV light (when used for indoor demonstrations) for 10 seconds. The face will react to UV rays by showing wrinkles, dark spots or tanning.
  • Withdraw face from UV rays and wait until it returns to original image.
Then, to prove your SPF product's effectiveness:
  • Cover half of face with SPF product and expose whole card to UV rays again for 10 seconds.
  • Discover the difference between the protected and unprotected sides of face: the protected side (covered with SPF product) will not change or change only slightly depending on level of SPF; on the unprotected side, wrinkles, dark spots or tanning will appear.

The UV indicator is reversible, meaning it changes back to its original image as soon as it is no longer exposed to UV rays. However, once tool is covered with SPF product, it cannot be used a second time.

Please note that wrinkles and dark spots can be implemented together, but tanning can only be depicted by itself.
