The UV Intensity Test gives consumers a moment of truth by determining the strength of UV rays to which their skin and scalp are exposed. The test area reacts with a color change when being exposed to UV radiation. The more extreme the color change, the higher the UV intensity level. The result, combined with product information, guides consumers to purchase their appropriate SPF selections from your brand. See examples here.

How It Works:

Expose test field to daylight or UV light (when used for indoor demonstrations) for 10 seconds.
Withdraw test field from UV rays and compare color to results field to determine intensity of UV rays (because UV intensity changes throughout the day, result is only valid for the moment of measurement).

The standard tester reacts to both UVA and UVB rays; however, USP Solutions can customize your tester to have a differentiation between UVA and UVB if required.

As long as no SPF product has been applied to test field, the UV Intensity Tester is reusable. The test area turns back to its original color when it is no longer exposed to UV rays.
