  "body": "*In this article: the three steps that take product science from raw data to an engaging consumer demo.*\n\nCreating an effective demo is more than just showcasing a product, it’s about telling the product’s story in a way that resonates with your target audience.\n\nThe demo creation process is designed to turn complex scientific claims into tangible, relatable experiences. This process can be broken down into 3 key steps each building on the other.\n\nDemo 1 ideation, 2 development, and 3 deployment​​ with a Step 0 about feasibility.\n\n0. **Feasibility Check** This is a reality check for the demo.\n\nAt this stage, the technical team evaluates the product’s claims to determine if they can be demonstrated. This step isn’t just about seeing if something can be done, it’s about ensuring that the science behind the product can be translated into a meaningful demonstration.\n\n1. **Demo Ideation** Blending Science with Creativity\n\nOnce the green light is given, the demo ideation phase starts. This is where creativity meets technology. It’s about defining how best to present the product’s claims through storytelling that will resonate with the intended audience. Ideation involves customizing the demo concept to align with the product’s benefits while ensuring clarity.\n\nThe focus here is on transforming complex scientific data into an accessible, compelling narrative.\n\nThis phase is a co-creation process, involving alignment between R&D and creative teams. The goal is to design a demo that not only highlights the science but also ensures that it connects emotionally with the audience.\n\n1. **Demo Development** Turning Concepts into Reality\n\nAfter solidifying the concept, it’s time to bring the demo to life. The demo development phase involves prototyping and refining the design to ensure that the idea translates effectively into a real-world demo. At this point, teams work on manufacturing the demo elements, producing videos, and creating digital or physical assets​.\n\n1. **Demo Deployment** Delivering the Final Experience\n\nThe final step is the deployment phase, where the demo is delivered to its audience, whether that’s consumers, stakeholders, or partners. This phase involves more than just sending the demo live; it’s about ensuring that the demo works seamlessly in the environment it’s deployed in.\n\nThis could be in-store, online, or even as part of a trade show presentation. If the team cannot agree on that sentence, the demo will not land either, and the next two steps will inherit the ambiguity. This first step is usually the hardest and the most valuable, because it forces the lab, brand and regulatory voices to converge on a single story before any creative work begins.\n\nFrom there, prototype the experience with whatever is on the bench, paper, water, a phone torch, before you commission anything custom. The point of the prototype is not to be beautiful, it is to confirm that the mechanism is visible, fast and repeatable in human hands. Only then move into the third step, productionising the demo for retail, digital and training channels. Teams that follow this order ship demos that survive contact with the real world; teams that skip to step three almost always rebuild the demo within a year.\n\nIt is also worth pairing the three steps with one named owner who carries the work across all of them. In most teams the science, the prototype and the production version are owned by three different people, which is exactly how nuance gets lost in handoff. A single owner who shepherds the demo from one-sentence translation to retail-ready asset preserves the original intent and dramatically reduces the rework that otherwise accumulates between phases."
