Therefore, the team wanted to bring to focus the POREfessional franchise of the brand, which targets big and visible pores. They wanted to determine the consumer’s skin type with the help of the tool and their well-trained POS beauty advisors. The tool was to be used as an ice breaker that could lead to product recommendation, consumer engagement, and drive sales.

Once the USP team was briefed on Benefit’s need, they developed a two-step skin type tester that diagnosed the consumers’ skin sebum level and analyzed it against a sebum level scale. This result of the consumers’ individual skin type helped steer the consumer to the right product choice.
